In conjunction with Laura Pannack’s major solo exhibition ‘Youth Without Age, Life Without Death: Chapter 1’, Francesca Maffeo Gallery will be hosting an ‘in conversation’ event.
Laura Pannack recently received the Getty Prestige Grant for ‘Youth Without Age, Life Without Death: Chapter 1’ and has previously won awards such as World Press Photo and John Kobal. This body of work is a photographic exploration of the fragility of life, concerned with themes of time, journeys and the cycle of life and death.
Set in the Romanian landscape and created over the past four years, ‘Youth Without Age, Life Without Death: Chapter 1’ takes inspiration from a local folk tale, following the story of a young prince on his quest for eternal life. The work sensitively responds to the strong role that folklore plays within Romanian culture.
Pannack will be speaking in conversation with Christiane Monarchi, the founding editor of Photomonitor, the online magazine dedicated to artists using photography and lens-based media in the UK and Ireland.
